On this rainy day I went to the used book sale my local public library is having and I came upon a book that I had already read. Inside was a piece of paper and I am always curious as to what sort of interesting things people might leave behind. I opened to the page, which was the beginning of a chapter titled "Sewing" and this poem:
Finish everyday and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day.
Begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit
be encumbered with your old nonsense.
This day is all that is good and fair.
It is too dear with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on yesterdays.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
I am a believer in fate and signs...even though I had already read it,I bought the book. I must have missed something important on the first reading.
