My friend Jean, a painter, sculptor and poet sent me some photos this morning of fabulous sand sculptures she came across. They are from a contest in British Columbia Apparently the sand there is perfect for sculpting. Go here to see more photos. Even though I am a
textile artist, I think all kinds of art can be informative. I find the detail in this piece inspirational.

Just beautiful. I wonder how many hours it takes to make something that detailed and that large. And to think it's just going to disappear.
WE have sand sculptures here in Texas every year. People come from all over the world and make wonderful amazing art. It's wonderful to see. this one is beautiful as well.
